My Contributions
I was primarily responsible for designing the gamemodes and items within Ninjas On Trampolines, ensuring each element added depth and excitement to the gameplay.
Detailed Info
Originally a class project, Ninjas On Trampolines has grown into a fully-fledged game, set for release in Fall 2024. The game has evolved significantly through the MAGIC Maker Program at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Gamemodes
The core gameplay of Ninjas on Trampolines is straightforward yet addictive: attack opponents to spread your paint across the environment. The player with the most painted area at the end of the match wins.
- Free For All: The basic mode where players battle to cover the environment in their paint.
- Spray-King: Similar to Free For All but introduces a spray can item. The player holding the spray can passively paints the environment, and it can be stolen by other players.
- Paintball: Adds chaos with a bouncing paintball. Players can hit the paintball to make it bounce and spread their color, while it also poses a lethal threat to opponents not sharing its color.
Items
Items spawn randomly across levels and add strategic depth:
- Paintbomb: A throwable explosive that paints the environment and can achieve multi-kill throws. It bounces off trampolines for spectacular effects.
- Sprinkler: A wall-sticking item that sprays paint in a 180-degree arc. It also bounces off trampolines.
- Mop: Clears all paint around the player upon use, providing a tactical advantage.
Future Additions
- Parry Mechanics: Enable players to parry items for defensive strategies.
- Interactive Sprinklers: Allow players to manipulate sprinklers post-throw.
- Networked Items: Integrate items fully into the multiplayer experience.
